**Not My Sons and Daughters (NMSD) Youth Voice Initiative – Program Description** The NMSD Youth Voice Initiative is a community needs assessment that centers the voices of youth and young adults ages 12–30. Through surveys and guided outreach, participants share their lived experiences and perspectives on neighborhood conditions, exposure to violence, drug and alcohol use, gangs, and weapons, as well as what they believe would make their communities safer. Information gathered through the Youth Voice Initiative helps NMSD and community partners identify urgent needs, service gaps, and protective factors, and guides the development of prevention strategies, trauma-informed supports, and community-based solutions led by those most impacted.
